Dove sarà il luogo segreto delle ninfee?

In questi ultimi mesi, giorni, ho fatto due scoperte.

In the last months, days, I made two discoveries.

La prima: è davvero difficile tenere aggiornato un blog quando si è impegnati su diversi fronti, impegni che a volte ti trattengono anche per tutta la settimana per lasciarti un momento di respiro solo al week-end.

The first: it is very hard to keep a blog updated when you are super busy, and you have just a free time at the weekends. 

La seconda: mi sto innamorando delle tecniche di disegno tradizionali! Per carità: apprezzo sempre il digitale, veloce, versatile e sicuramente con meno probabilità di sporcarsi con una macchia di acrilico caduta sbadatamente sui vestiti. Invidio chi riesce a estreggiarsi tra pennelli e medium particolari: è una cosa che vorrei approfondire.

The second one: I'm falling in love with traditional techniques. I still appreciate working in digital: it's faster, versatile and with less chances to dirt your dress with acrylics spots. I shall deepen traditional medium better. 

























Ho voluto iniziare con questo piccolo quadro, dedicato alla natura e i fiori. Raffigura un posto speciale: il luogo preferito dove le ninfee si dilettanno a passare il tempo.

So, I started with this little picture, dedicated to nature and flowers. It depicts a special place: the favorite place where Nynphes spend their time carefree.

La casa nel West

A random house in the western side! 

"Ragazzo mio, un giorno sarai un grande mago" alias, il concorso Salani

Voilà la mia proposta per il concorso dell'editore Salani. Bisognava scegliere un titolo tra dieci dei libri più noti nella categoria bambini/ragazzi della casa editrice e reinterpretarli a piacimento. All'inizio pensavo di fare tutt'altro, ma ho avuto - come si dice - un'illuminazione last-minute per Harry Potter e la pietra filosofale.  Ho cercato di ritrarre un Potter ancora giovane, con tutto l'entusiasmo e la curiosità di un ragazzo poco più che adolescente che si ritrova in una scuola di magia molto simile all'antica università di Oxford, ma che ancora non ha idea delle grandi responsabilità che lo aspettano: spero di aver trasmesso al meglio questa idea :)

Here it is my entry for the contest of the italian pubblisher Salani. The contest was about to choose amoung ten of its top-best seller books (mostly dedicated to children and young readers) and redraw the cover. At first I wanted to illustrate another title, but at the end I couldn't resist at this composition, and so I did Harry Potter and the philosopher's stone. I had in mind to give an image of Potter as as he was still quite young, with all the enthusiasm and freshness of a young teen arriving in a Oxford-like magical school, who still doesn't know the huge responsabilities that await for him: I hope you can feel it in my cover :)

Acrylic on wood panel... it is quite big, I wonder how to scan it as I'll have finished it!

Proprio in questo giorno speciale un dente ha deciso di farmi un male allucinante, ma nonostante questo vi faccio lo stesso tanti auguri di buon Natale! Godetevi il resto della giornata e siate tutti "Oh-oh-oh". Avete già fatto merenda?

Giallo

Complici una certa voglia di sperimentare e sbizarrirmi un pò, dei vecchi pastelli a cera Giotto (sì, avete capito bene: quelli che si usavano alle medie nell'ora di educazione artistica!) e il nuovo sketchbook da inauguare, ho voluto dare anch'io il mio contributo artistico per Io Disegno a Modo mio sul tema Giallo. A proposito: quando ero molto piccola era il mio colore preferito!

My contribution for the theme "Yellow", but this time it's a peek from my brand-new sketchbook. Recently I'm trying to experiment a lot with different techniques instead of the usual digital media, like I did in this case: I mainly used the wax crayons (The same of the junior high-school time! Ah, memories...). BTW, did you know that, as a child, yellow was my favorite colour?
